Chenille Custom Patches
raised felt pile on felt base · the varsity jacket original · big shapes read best
Chenille is the fuzzy, raised-pile patch from every varsity jacket you have ever seen. The looped yarn stands tall off a felt base, giving letters and simple mascots a dimensional, heritage sports look nothing else matches.
The material has one rule: it loves big, simple shapes. Letters, numbers, mascot silhouettes, and chunky wordmarks thrive; fine detail belongs on an embroidered patch instead, and we will say so on the proof.
Built like the originals
Looped chenille yarn is stitched into a felt base with a contrasting felt border, the same construction letterman companies have used since the 1930s. Two pile colors plus a border color is the classic build; up to four pile colors is possible.
Beyond the letter jacket
Streetwear brands order chenille for hoodies and crewnecks, breweries for anniversary jackets, and sororities for big Greek letters. Anything currently embroidered at 4 inches or larger usually looks richer in chenille.

Common questions
2 to 12 inches. Single letters are classically 4 to 6 inches; back pieces run 8 to 12. Below 2 inches the pile overwhelms the shape, and we will suggest embroidery instead.
Sew-on is the standard and what jacket shops expect. Heat-seal backing works for lighter placements like hoodies, and we apply it free on request.
